At the March 28 meeting of the School Board Nominating Commission, the Commissioners voted in public session on candidates to fill the upcoming vacancy of the District 33 seat on the Anne Arundel County Board of Education.
The following people received the required majority of votes from the Commission to allow their names to be forwarded for consideration to Governor Larry Hogan for final appointment:
- Mariko Bennett of Gambrills
- Eric Grannon of Davidsonville
- Dawn Myers of Annapolis
- Kerry Petz of Arnold
- Allison Pickard of Millersville.
At the close of the application period, there had been 11 applicants. Two applicants withdrew,and four were not nominated.
The March 28 meeting at the Severna Park Community Center was the second of two held within District 33, in accordance with the Commission’s bylaws, It was video recorded while live streamed. Public testimony was offered, recorded, and broadcast at both meetings.
The commission’s plans to hold the District 33 meetings were announced at the January 7th meeting, the February 1st meeting and by press releases on March 4, March 11, and on March 12 with the final list of applicants.
The Commission is required by statue to forward a minimum of two names to the Governor. The Commission announced it would forward the names, by mail, to Governor Hogan for his review and consideration. Inquires should be directed to email@example.com.
