An agreement between the Board of Education and the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County will result in the final day of work for classroom teachers in the current school year being Monday, June 23, 2014.
The last day for students in the 2013-2014 school year is set for Wednesday, June 18. Teachers will spend June 19 completing and submitting grades for students. They will finish that process and will engage in professional development sessions involving the Common Core State Standards, Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exams, and AACPS curriculum on Friday, June 20.
Teachers will complete required online professional development models centered around the same subjects on Monday, June 23, but may opt to complete them on other days before August 18. The online work will be done outside of school buildings, but teachers will be required to submit documentation of the completion of that work.
Discussions about the last day for members of other employee bargaining units are still ongoing.
